Speedwell Vineyard
Situated in the heart of East Sussex winemaking activity
Speedwell is a small family -run vineyard, based about 6 miles North of Rye, East Sussex. Since the first harvest in 2017 the grapes have been used to supply quality wine grapes to a number of wine producers in the South East.
The owners have now decided to produce their own wine produced in small quantities of premium quality wine.
The Wine
The first Speedwell vintage (2022) was a Rondo/Pinot Noir field blend. Vinification was performed by Oxney Organic Estate, under supervision of master wine maker Salvatore Leone.
The product is a lightly oaked-fermented true medium bodied red wine, which is deeply coloured with rich and complex flavour and soft and mature tannins. Bottling has been completed after a long, slow malo-lactic fermentation.
The vineyard is farmed by the family, practising organic methods.
